The Roman province Moesia
was established in the end of the 1st century AD initially in
the Western part of the contemporary Bulgarians lands. Here for
the first time the Romans built important strongholds which main
function was to be used for further attacks against the Thracians
tribes. The "Antique fortresses" tour offers visiting
to 5 strongholds built in the beginning of Roman occupation, 2
fortresses from the ages of the Bulgarian Revival period and in
addition some of the best preserved medieval towns in North Bulgaria.
